Learn how technology can bring efficiencies

Find out what our financial adviser clients are doing, how they’re getting efficiencies from technology and how we find simple solutions for complex situations.

What do we need to do to ensure we get the AI right?

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be able to attend an AI conference in Las Vegas.
This was my first big conference, with around 12,000 attendees.

AI4 Opening Keynote session

Apart from the scary number of people and sessions available over the three days, there was just so much information on offer from experienced AI users and I was in learning heaven!

I attended 38 sessions and a half day workshop, and I am not sure that I didn't end up with more questions than answers.

There were so many terms I looked up as I sat in the sessions, HITL, Native AI, frontier models, multi modal integration, generalist, MVI and MCP.  With each google I appreciated more and more that there is so much more to AI than just summarising meetings and file notes.

Across the different sessions I attended at AI4 several themes were emerging that I thought were worth bringing back to Enzumo, so expect to see more articles over the coming weeks as I break down the learnings, but at a high level, this is what stood out for me:

  • Data quality has to be the foundation of your AI success

  • Build AI governance and security from the start

  • Lead with business outcomes, not technology

  • Think long and hard about your build v buy decisions (hint: hybrid is not just a car term)

  • Keep a track of the AI being used, knowledge management is essential in an AI world.

When using AI to summarise the slides I uploaded, Co-Pilot said the message was clear:

Successful AI is less about models and technology, and more about clean data, strong governance, security, and solving genuine business problems first.

AI has been around for a longtime, but only really mainstream for a couple of years now (hello ChatGPT), but I am not sure anyone is really an expert yet, or that anyone has it all sorted and running everything smoothly in their business.
In the AI arena I consider myself to be a beginner, but I am always happy to have a chat about AI if you want to reach out!
